I should be taking a nap. Penny decided to cry all night a couple nights ago, and today it really hit me with the aftershock tsunami of exhaustion.
I should also be packing. Tomorrow (at a freakishly early hour) we go to Washington-- the other Washington-- for Kevin's oral assessment. He has been working really hard to prepare for this. It's a multi-section, multi-hour, in-depth process, not just a typical interview-- although that's part of it. He has practiced, studied, and prepared for this, and I think he'll do really well. I'm excited for the interview, and I'm also ready to have a little bit more of a concrete plan of where our life will go from here.
I'm also excited to go visit friends and see the capital again. I went to DC on an 8th grade trip. I didn't have a camera, and I remember spending the entire time at one museum in the gift shop. I bought my dad a Spock tie, and he has never worn it. I don't really wonder why anymore.
This time I don't know that I'll do any souvenir shopping. Kevin and I have finally figured out that buying one rather nice thing is much better than a million little trinkets that were cool at one point but you'll never use in real life. Plus, if you want one of those, just go to your local thrift shop and pick up one that someone else stupidly bought. This time, however, we may skip out on the souvenir shopping. We don't have any money anyway.
I do have a camera, though, so after I get back (or during the trip... we'll see), you might be forced to see us standing in front of cool monuments and stuff.
And as you're praying for all your friends to do well in their job interviews this weekend, please consider including Kevin on that list. ;)

I still have and wear the necklace you bought me in D.C. on your 8th grade trip.
I don't think I ever bought anything for anyone...I was too busy buying stuff for myself!
Good luck Kevin on the interview!!
I procrastinate doing important things by doing things like blogging as well, but I NEVER procrastinate taking a nap! I live for a good nap! That is my favorite form of procrastination. :) It will be extremely sad to have two kids and likely never have them asleep at the same time. :) What I do for souvenirs is something that I picked up from my mom. I buy a Christmas ornament representing each place I visit. It's a fun tradition because you naturally collect cool ornaments, and then you can reminisce when you're decorating the tree.
Best of luck! Isn't growing up fun to do?
My comment should be titled "Reading blogs when I should be working"
