On Friday I didn't exercise, but on Saturday and Sunday I did.
And then today I rode my bike to work. Woo hoo!! I'd been meaning to do it eventually, but I was afraid I'd either be waaay too early or waaay too late. I gave myself an hour (and by giving myself an hour, I mean I gave myself 50 minutes by the time I was actually out the door), and it was a bit cold. Tomorrow I will wear long sleeves and maybe gloves.
It is fairly flat the whole way, so I just cruised right along. I got to work about 7 minutes before the bell rang, giving me just enough time to change clothes. Unfortunately, it didn't give me enough time to dry my sweaty hair or get rid of the helmet marks on my forehead. But I'm not here to impress anyone by my flowing locks or non-splotchy head. I impress myself enough just by riding my bike... to work!
When I ride my bike, II love that I can actually experience the world instead of just flying past it. I got to ride through some pretty fields along Geneva Road, and it was idyllic. Except for the wafting cow aroma. And the up-close-and-personal view of roadkill. And the bug I sniffed up my nose. And the train tracks I had to ride across. I hit them at full speed, just like Super Mario running across those little crevices on level 8.
And I made it. I plan on doing this again for as long as I can before the weather changes. I love fall, and this will be just one more excuse to enjoy the great outdoors.

Stuff I wouldn't mind getting for Christmas
- Twin-sized sheet sets for Penny and Naomi (matching? flowered or something pretty, not characters)
- Scrapbook pages
- Fun refrigerator magnets
- Fisher Price Little People Pirate Ship (for Penny.... though I would play with it too.)
- Cute Stationary-- I currently write letters on notebook paper ripped from the notebook
- Boy toys for William, age 9 months-18 months or so

I am way impressed. Way to go bike riding.. I discovered bike riding from my roommate here and it's so fun! Good luck. I was wishing they had showers here (:-)) and Dad told me they have them at the Lab just for that purpose! Sometimes I miss Government excess.
We have a shower here. It's in the students' bathroom, though, and part of me thinks it would be a little weird to take an actual shower when there are children around. Teenagers. Whatever.
Education: also government financed. :) But I guess we have an actual purpose, since the bathroom also serves as locker room for the PE classes. It's a small school.
Wow; good job on riding to work! I just got a bike over the weekend (inspired by your previous post) and went riding with the family (we recently purchased a bike trailer off Craig's List, too.)
I loved your comparison of riding over railroad tracks to Super Mario, Level 8. That's the best metaphor I've heard in weeks!
Beth,
I wasn't sure what to call those pitfalls/holes/spaces between brick chunks. But I'm glad you know what I meant.
And congrats on the bike and trailer. I used to HATE riding a bike, but now I've found that every time I hope on, I feel good.
Dude, please be very careful! I used to drive on Geneva road every day when we lived in Pleasant Grove. In case you haven't noticed, people drive pretty fast on it, and when traffic gets backed up on the interstate, everyone diverts either to State Street or Geneva Road. Yea, when I told Richard you rode your bike on Geneva Road he said "What? Is she nuts?" So as happy as I am that you are riding to work everyday, I am a little concerned. However, I know that it wasn't as crowded and crazy farther south, so I guess that it just depends on where you live. I hope you live near the safer side. Way to go on the exercising though, your doing really well.
