Penny's highlight

Hands down, Penny's highlight of our trip was..... RIDING CAMELS!
Penny and Dad got to ride a big, brown daddy camel

Mommy and Meimei got to ride a white daddy camel. I asked the guide if the camel had a name. He looked at me, looked at the camel, looked at me, and said, "CAMEL!" As good a name as any, I suppose.
Meimei was pretty enthralled with the camel's fuzzy hump. It was a fun ride! The blanket made it quite comfortable!

This area is called the Flaming Mountains. It's famous because of one of the Chinese classics, Journey to the West. It's the story of a monk and his friends (including Monkey King!)  who journey out to Xinjiang (the west) in search of the Buddhist scriptures. And I guess they came here!

At the end Penny got to ride one all by herself.
