I guess this makes me a Yuppie

Not far from our apartment is a shopping center with Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Whole Foods, and a bunch of other stores I have never shopped at either. When we drive past there on our way home from church, there is always traffic backed up for blocks from so many Priuses trying to park in the 25-car-capacity Whole Foods parking lot. So while Kevin ootches through traffic, I get to look out the window at the young urban professionals, their 2.3 children, and their strollers of choice.
Every time, I am happy to see at least 3 of these bad boys:

No, I haven't seen Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, or even Brooke Shields. But every time we go out, it's the Phil & Teds Sport stroller with double kit attachment! Yay!!!
Since I'm moving to China and having a second child over there, I've been thinking about the fact that the market for double strollers in a country with a 1-child policy might be tiny. Or nonexistent. And the possibility of finding one used would be less than zero.
So I've been scouring craigslist (in 4 states) for the last several weeks to find one in a reasonable price range. It's easy to buy one for over $300, but that's not what Chelsea-the-tightwad is willing to pay.
I eventually found one for $225, and since I was in New Mexico, I had Kevin go buy it for me, and he talked the lady down to $180! Great practice for shopping over in China!
It's still a pricey stroller, but I am so excited to have it! I may buy nothing again, ever.
In the space of a single jogging stroller, here, my friends, is a double stroller just perfect for navigating China's small, bumpy sidewalks.

This will be just perfect for Penny and her baby sister, Apple.

I've never seen that type of stroller. Its amazing that you can get 2 in that small of space! Is Sarah totally jealous?

I've seen those and then I just didn't want my under child to just have a view of the back of the higher basket. But I could see how it would work well for China, plus I'm cheap. So I got something more in my price range. Although, I think that double strollers are just heavy and with awkward steering. If yours is different let me know, because I just think they are hard to push.

P.S. I can't believe you came through Utah and didn't tell us you were here. Miss you! :)

Awesome! I really wanted one of these in china, but they only sold in hong kong for full price! But i was grateful for my graco double stroller in many many ways...grocery shopping being one of them. That stroller was packed! You probably know this but buy anything and everything of baby gear you can here in the US. I did find graco products at the super fancy malls, but they were double the price. Cuz u already know the quailty of Chinese things. Good luck!

What a cool stroller! Glad you were able to find it for the price you wanted to pay!

I've seen those too and thought they were interesting. I'm on a similar double stroller mission - trying to find something I like for super cheap. So far, I've bought one at a yard sale that I used right away. Then I bought another off Craigslist that I shouldn't have because I don't love it. I'm glad you love yours though!

You're one of the famous fancy people now!! I have a friend who has it and LOVES it!! I can't imagine Cal ever being happy in the bottom basket without a view, though. But it will be great for China and would be perfect for a sleepy infant who doesn't care about seeing things!

SHe is so stinkin cute and I love the name now. HAHA maybe I am a yuppie too.

Hey....so I'm finally venturing back into the blogging world other than just to haphazardly post on my own blog for my mom.....

So I'm at a total loss! You're pregnant?! Wahoo. I feel like such an idiot but alas, I didn't know. And although I've gone back several months on your blog, I've still missed what the gender is. Is it another girl, or was the "Penny's sister Apple" a joke?

And China? I thought it was really hard to get a post in China?

So I'm clueless and would love to be filled in. ;) julie.nielson823@gmail.com....Or I can just pester your mom on facebook. lol. I hope you're well!
