National Parks Week

My favorite holiday every year, the one I look forward to and plan all my vacations around, is obviously National Parks Week. The fact that I didn't know it existed until a few days ago doesn't dampen my enthusiasm for this great holiday.
We went up to the top of the volcano here on Maui, Haleakala National Park. A sign said there were no park fees from 4/18 to 4/24 because of National Parks Week. If you have a national park near you, you should go today or tomorrow, because there are no fees. This is the closest we get to the government giving us money (especially since Kevin and I were going anyway).
The top of the volcano, as you can see, is very barren.
You get some interesting angles when you take self portraits.
There's an observatory at the top of the mountain, and Penny shows her enthusiasm for it. We didn't tell her it was closed to the public, and so she is still quite happy in this picture.
Kevin's been doing a lot of writing while we're out here in Hawaii, and I thought this picture was appropriate, with his head in the clouds. Hee hee hee.

I told someone else about this holiday who is visiting LV and they are going to go to all the parks in the area. Too bad I have to work! ICK.

PLEASE STOP POSTING PICTURES OF HAWAII!! It is cruel and inconsiderate to us hard working Americans who are stuck here on the mainland, (I say this while I am laying down to take a nap with my babies) who have no chance of escaping the doldrums. ;p
