I got a job. Woo hoo! They said they were doing interviews today and tomorrow, so they would try to make a decision by tomorrow afternoon. But they called me this afternoon and offered me a job. Yay!!!
So as of August 15th, I'll be a teaching assistant for the Math and Science classes at East Shore High School in Orem.
And Daddy especially, if you're reading this, please don't laugh too hard.
My first choice would have been Social Studies, and then PE/Health. Math and Science was my third choice, right above Business, which I wouldn't be qualified for AT ALL. I took math in high school-- my junior year. I passed Bio 100 and Physical Science 100 at BYU... ]like 7+ years ago. And yet, somehow, I'm supposed to help kids with their math and science work.
EEEEEEEeeeeeeeek!
However, I am just the teaching assistant. There will be an actual teacher there who will know something about math and/or science.
And I am a fairly competent person. I learned all this stuff once, and I can figure it out again. Plus the kids have to write essays for every packet they finish, and I am quite good at writing. Maybe that will be my focus.
Either way, I'm super excited for my job. It will be challenging. The kids at this school are generally ones who failed out of the regular high school, and they're not very motivated to do well in school.
But I like people. And the harder I have to work to like someone, the more I end up caring about them. I'm sure I'll have good days and bad days, but all in all, it should be a good experience.

Stuff I wouldn't mind getting for Christmas
- Twin-sized sheet sets for Penny and Naomi (matching? flowered or something pretty, not characters)
- Scrapbook pages
- Fun refrigerator magnets
- Fisher Price Little People Pirate Ship (for Penny.... though I would play with it too.)
- Cute Stationary-- I currently write letters on notebook paper ripped from the notebook
- Boy toys for William, age 9 months-18 months or so

Mommy~
Yeah Chelsea! Congrats, I'm sure you'll do great. Your very smart, so I'm sure you can excel as a Science & Math TA-good luck!
Congrats on the job!
AND I HOPE YOU'RE CHECKING THIS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS (Friday night), I CAN'T FIND YOUR NUMBER!
Scott told me that he has to finish the footings tonight because the inspector is coming Monday morning at 7:30am. So I guess we're taking a rain check, but we both want to make it happen. Next weekend perhaps? We're booked with family stuff for the next two weekends after that, so if not in a week, maybe some time in September?
Sorry again for being a dork and not making sure I had the right number (I thought it was 885-7788...is that not it?...apparently not unless you've changed your name to Melissa). ;)
Congrats and I feel the same way about math (haven't taken it since 2001) - but you'll figure it out quick.
p.s. I know one of the curators and the springville art museum.
All right Chelsea! It's such a relief to be gainfully employed. Sounds like you'll be working at a fun school. And math and science are like riding a bike-- it'll all come back really fast. All you need to do is stay one day ahead of the students. Congrats!
