Snippets

We got home from our trip today. I was able to bring home my Felicity doll and accompanying American Girls' books from my parents' home in New Mexico. I loved those books, and I loved the doll. Naomi is sitting on the kitchen floor carefully looking at all the pictures in my books. It makes my heart happy.

Kevin brought us an empty suitcase on our trip, which I filled with a bunch of stuff from Ikea. We have 9 ridiculous bathrooms in our house, and while I have no intention of decorating or even using all of them, I decided it would be a good idea to have hand towels, soap dishes, and (wait for it) even soap in the ones we use. And I did get a rug and nicer towels for our living room guest bathroom.
I also bought 12 children's plastic cups. We started out here in Brazil with about 20, and we are down to two. I'm not sure where they've all disappeared to (though our 9 bathrooms probably had something to say about them), but now we have more. And they're so bright and cute and happy!

The rainy season is here in full swing! The yard is green, my tomato bushes are huge, and it's kind of bizarre to remind myself that Christmas is right around the corner. We'll be dreaming of a white Christmas this year, and reality will be much, much different!

I went to go unpack my suitcase only to find a puddle of water on the floor of my closet. Not all is happy and fantastic about rainy season.

It's good to be back. We're working through the jet-lag, which should only last a couple days-- or maybe six days if one day per hour is actually true. Maybe I'll write a more coherent post once we've settled into life again.

Stuff I wouldn't mind getting for Christmas

  • Twin-sized sheet sets for Penny and Naomi (matching? flowered or something pretty, not characters)
  • Scrapbook pages
  • Fun refrigerator magnets
  • Fisher Price Little People Pirate Ship (for Penny.... though I would play with it too.)
  • Cute Stationary-- I currently write letters on notebook paper ripped from the notebook
  • Boy toys for William, age 9 months-18 months or so
