So I'm finally at the point where even my stretchiest normal clothes look a bit strained when I wear them. I've been... growing.
I have maternity clothes. However, when I chose them, I was not very large yet, and I'd usually shove my coat into my clothes while trying them on in the dressing room. This means that once I'm big enough that people are thinking I'm giving birth to a large down parka, I will have plenty of clothes.
However, right now that I'm in the "is she pregnant or just fat in an awkward way?" phase, I'm right in between my normal and maternity clothes.
I've bought a few shirts, but in every store I go to, I find that all the maternity shirts are of the short-sleeved variety. What, do they think my metabolism is running so fast I'm burning up? Not yet, pal. I'm always cold, especially when it is snowing outside and *somebody* (me) refuses to turn the heater up past 67. (Whatever. It's 2 degrees higher than last winter.)
Anyway... after going shopping last night to two stores carrying nothing but short sleeved maternity shirts, I had an epiphany: How many times have I tried clothes on and said, "Ugh! This shirt makes me look pregnant!"
I dug through the clearance section, and ta-daa! I bought one of those!

Stuff I wouldn't mind getting for Christmas
- Twin-sized sheet sets for Penny and Naomi (matching? flowered or something pretty, not characters)
- Scrapbook pages
- Fun refrigerator magnets
- Fisher Price Little People Pirate Ship (for Penny.... though I would play with it too.)
- Cute Stationary-- I currently write letters on notebook paper ripped from the notebook
- Boy toys for William, age 9 months-18 months or so

ha ha - smart move going for the clearance rack. And I know what you mean when it comes to being at the inbetween stage. Want some unsolicited advice? Go for a few of the stretchy maternity tops. Not that I am advertising but check out shade clothing. They have an online store and I think they have a regular store at the University mall. You'd have to check the website to be sure. Anyway, they'll sit on your belly NOW and stretch across it later. No tent size flaps hanging.
I have some pairs of pants that are too big for me normally that I kept around, knowing I'd need them again. There are too sizes: this is too big normally, but okay with a belt and this was way too big but works for transition maternity.
Oh, the joys of beginning your second trimester. I remember that feeling of just being THICK. I ended up wearing the low-panel maternity pants (the full-panel wouldn't stay up) and shirts that weren't necessarily maternity shirts, but definitely weren't form-fitting. Good luck...it will all be changing soon!
I bought some things called Bella Bands for that in between stage...you can get them online-they are super stretchy and even offer a lil support when you are too big for even maternity. :) They are a lil expensive but I thought they were totally worth it.
Way too save money and get what u need too!
I have the same problem with the "ugh - this makes me look pregnant." Especially after already having two babies and having my belly refuse to shrink back. Good thinking hitting the clearance racks! And you're almost half way done! Yay!
