I had to write a paper for my Child and Adolescent Development class I finished yesterday. This paper was worth 12% of my grade. I wrote the paper, and I learned a lot of interesting things while doing the research. Here is the assignment:
Write a 1750-2450-word paper analyzing the importance of understanding the stages of human development in the classroom. Analyze some of the problems that might result from a teacher’s lack of such understanding. Focusing on one stage (e.g., early childhood), include a discussion of teacher behaviors that would promote students’ thinking abilities, behaviors that would help students achieve greater success, and behaviors that would promote the social and emotional well-being of the individual student as well as improve the classroom environment for children in that stage. Include classroom practices and materials that you feel promote diversity and equity within the educational experience.
This assignment was graded this way: 4 points for readability and mechanics, and 8 points for content. The content rubric was subdivided in this way:--All key elements of the assignment are covered in a substantive way
--Introduction, body, and conclusion are evident and flow together
--Major points are stated and supported by specific details or examples
So, you be the teacher... how do you think I did in content? Be mean, be honest, be brutal. I know I missed a couple sections. But I want to know what you would give me, for content, on a scale of 0-8.

I would probably give you a 4.5 on content. Granted it is a very good paper, well organized, and makes a point, but you missed two of the 5 requested themes, and I think you selected a specific topic of learning rather than a specific age group of learning, however age is a factor in language learning. Maybe if the intro and conclusion said more precisely how you are relating language learning to the topics they want discussed.
However, I know you don't want suggestions on readability, but i'd give you a 3.5 or 4 out of 4 on that. :)
you're welcome
ps: you've been tagged on my most recent post :D
Funny story: I muted my online radio and went to your page almost simultaneously, and I thought "wait a second...I just muted my music...where is this music coming from!? am I going crazy!?"
Nice addition to your page :D
Ok, so I got 0 out of 8 for content, leaving me with a 30%. I talked to her about it, and she gave me two more points, giving me a 50% F instead. Grrrr...
You got a 0 out of 8?! What were her reasons? I've never been great at analyzing papers, but I probably whould have given you a score in the mid-range.
