Bold faced

Last night Penny told me her first lie. She was sitting on the potty playing with the iPod (this is normal in our house), and I told her to push the button to turn it off. The first time I told her, she ignored me, so I told her again. She held the iPod against her body, looked straight at me and said, "I did push the button." She kept her eyes fixed on me while her face looked guiltier and guiltier, the iPod music playing cheerfully against her body.
I know I'm supposed to be upset that my daughter has started lying, but honestly I thought it was hilarious and very, very cute. Oh, I didn't let her know that. I just ignored her and had her give me the iPod. But I'm enjoying watching my little baby grow up, even with these new developments.

It is funny how soon kids learn to lie, you can see their minds trying to figure things out.
