Waxing poetic

Our 7th grade class is learning about prepositions, so we gave them the assignment of writing a preposition poem. This is mine, which I wrote during a staff meeting. (Shhh...)

Buried treasure
Off the boat
Onto the island
Up the beach
Past the hollow tree
Over the skull-shaped rock
At high noon
Through the ancient ruins
Down the cliff face
Behind the waterfall
Into the murky cave
Under the X
In the sand
Inside the rotted chest
Buried treasure

I know, I know. Wipe a tear, everyone. You may stop snapping now. If only you could see my final copy-- it is illustrated.

(insert clapping sound HERE.) A marvelous poem. Especially having been written during a staff meeting, extra kudos for that! Does that translate to any underlying meanings? Pirates and staff meetings, hmmm... I'm sure that I could use my amazing skills to read between the lines, but I'll spare you (and my brain).

At my last post, when staff meetings included thirty people, I resorted to haikus to stay awake. With 6 people, it's a little harder...

Next up: iambic pentameter in budget meetings!!
