More apartment stuff

Since I know everyone is FASCINATED, I want to put a bit more info about my new apartment.
I was saying it was in a really nice area of town, and this is some info I found about our neighborhood (well, the main street by our apartment-ville).
"Warm Springs is centered around the tree-lined Warm Springs Avenue and contains some of Boise's largest and most expensive homes (many of which were erected by wealthy miners and businessmen around the turn of the 20th century; Victorian styles feature prominently). The area gets its name from the natural hot springs that flow from Boise's fault line and warm many of the homes in the area."
Thank you, Wikipedia.
Kevin's work is only a mile from our house, and the hospital is about halfway between our house and Kevin's work. While this doesn't mean I'll be walking there when the big moment comes, it does mean instead of a 15-minute grueling drive across town, stopping at traffic lights and generally being uncomfortable and impatient, it will be a 2-minute drive of the same nature. Kevin might still like me by the end of it. (I am not the most patient passenger anyway.)
And about our apartment: if I can get a doctor's note, we can keep our cats. I'm not sure what this note is supposed to say, but I'm willing to admit that it would be emotionally traumatizing at this delicate time in my life to be parted from them. I could also say that since I am leaving everything and everyone I know, it will benefit my emotional health to have these companion animals. Basically, the apartment manager doesn't care; I just need a note from a doctor. And I think almost everyone in the complex had pets anyway.
And everyone that comes to Boise better come see me. As I just mentioned, I really don't know anyone up there, and I'll love seeing my friends. And keeping my cats. But I find I can have more intellectual conversations with my friends than my cats, so I really hope you'll remember to come visit me!
Now that I'm sure you're sick of hearing about my new future apartment and my pets, I'd like some of your thoughts. Kevin and I keep vacillating between liking the upstairs apartment and the downstairs apartment, both of which will be available in the beginning of June. I know we'd like either one, and there are small inconveniences about each one. So what are your thoughts?
We may just leave it up to chance, saying we'll be happy to move into whichever one is open first.

Upstairs:
Pros:
Better view of trees and gardens outside
Railing to put tomato plants against
Fewer neighbors
Cons:
Stairs to climb while pregnant and then again with baby.
Will need lots of help getting piano up-- or professional piano movers ($$).

Downstairs:
Pros:
Not as many stairs to climb trying to get baby, laundry, groceries, and/or piano upstairs.
Still get decent view of gardens
Cons:
Noise from upstairs neighbors
Neighbors on every side who get to hear baby cry
Not as much light

I absolute having neighbors upstairs because they stomp around at all hours of the day and night. When you're upstairs, you get to be the annoying stompers, and the only thing you have to hear is the mexican polka music they play. If it were me, I'd take stairs over more neighbors any day. And to help with your piano, you can just leave it here with us, problem solved :)

We live on the bottom and have friends who live on the top of our complex. I hate going to see them because I have to find a way to carry our stroller up the stairs by myself. And when you have a child that can't walk, you have to carry them, the groceries, their stroller everything. I don't mind the noise of upstairs neighbors either, but that's me.

We did an bottom apartment with a 3 floor building and it want' bad at all. yes it wasn't as light and sometimes we did hear that much, and it was just so much easier with kids. And like you we had a piano and didn't want to take it up stairs so we did the bottom. My family didn't want to carry it upstairs and had no money for a mover so yeah..but it really wasn't that bad.

I really like how our apartment is now because it's the upstairs one, but it's also ground floor. But since that's not you option...I didn't mind being downstairs in our Provo apartment - until Mr. Tourette's upstairs moved in and couldn't stop stomping, yelling, and swearing. So, hopefully that won't be an issue for you! :) We had movers take our piano from our Provo apartment to the moving truck because it had to be laid on its side to get around the corner and up the stairs. I think it was about $80.

It's really hard to carry all that baby stuff up and down stairs... Those carriers get so heavy, not to mention strollers, groceries, etc. Plus you're thinking of just going upstairs, I have fallen down stairs so many times - once when I was prego and I got really hurt, I've even fallen holding my kids. it was so scary! I've lived with downstairs before and for me the noise really isn't too bad.

Wow! This is all so fun! Moving to new places (especially if you're excited for it) is always fun. Although I must pass along that when I saw your mom and sister a couple weeks ago, they weren't very pleased with your timing since the baby is supposed to come soon after you leave. ;) Congrats again on graduation and this next phase of life.

i say downstairs, because of the moving thing... i hate that part, especially your piano and i have lived downstairs twice and the neighbors weren't that bad, really.
