Hey folks,
I know a lot of you who read this are moms and/or opinionated. So it's time to help me out.
I started a baby gift registry at Target, and I really don't know what else to put on it. I know I need some things, but I really have no idea what stuff is necessary, unnecessary, convenient, nice, wasteful, whatever. If you'd like, please go look at my registry and tell me what else I need to put on there. Or if you hate what I've put on there, please let me know why. :)
Thanks!
Chelsea

Stuff I wouldn't mind getting for Christmas
- Twin-sized sheet sets for Penny and Naomi (matching? flowered or something pretty, not characters)
- Scrapbook pages
- Fun refrigerator magnets
- Fisher Price Little People Pirate Ship (for Penny.... though I would play with it too.)
- Cute Stationary-- I currently write letters on notebook paper ripped from the notebook
- Boy toys for William, age 9 months-18 months or so

no where did you mention diapers or wipes these 2 things you use the most and you spend the most on...burp cloths,do you have a bassinet? any clothes you want? the body suits and onesies are great especially coming into summer, you have 4 boppy slipcovers but no boppy do you already have one? baby bath? diaper genie inserts, no toys listed, any baby bath things you want..... that will do i think !!!! :)
I agree with Keri-Anne, you have a GREAT start, I think onesies are a must so useful. Sleepers as well. Reusable clothe diapers work the best for burp cloths! I think that the play gyms are very nice to have because it gives the baby something to look at when on the floor, I got a lot of us out of mine. Also a couple of little toys for tummy time. oh what about a diaper bag that is a must, you always have to have lots of extra stuff on hand you never when they will explode! or even spit up on YOU! The fun joys of having a little one :D. Oh yeah and what about a stroller?
i suggest getting a diaper champ, and not a diaper genie... you can use normal trash bags in them so you don't have to buy the inserts, plus they are MUCH easier to use... but really teh basics are clothes, diapers, wipes, blankets and milk... if you are breastfeeding, then you don't need much but i have about 5-6 bottles for when i pump and have to go to class. so remember that. so, also a breast pump (I love my medela one, it is small and circular -cost $150, but if you want it to last, medela is the way to go). i asked this same question in about july last year on my blog... so go to it and read all the comments i got.. i was so worried but figured out if i had the basics, I could always run to the store later (or the hubby can).
I noticed you have i'm guessing a carseat that you can turn around and use as an infant seat? For me, I liked having the infant carseat you can carry around because when you are running errands it's so much easier to take the car seat in and out instead of the baby, who is sleeping most of the time. It's also nice to have a stroller to attach the car seat to. Check out albeebaby.com and check out their closeout items or buy a used one. Also, DO NOT get that "Nasal Aspirator"!!! We needed one for Mo, so Ryan got this one and it doesn't work! We threw it away. They give you one in the hospital and those ones work soooo much better than in the stores! Plus we needed more of the hospital ones for Bahii, so Ryan went to the hospital and asked for one and they gave him TWO! I agree about not getting the diaper genie. The refills just cost more $$$ and you change A LOT of diapers! I like the bouncers because it's light and I can take it from room to room easily. We got "Bright Stars" it's inexpensive and cute. Hopefully I've helped!
Also, I would get a baby bath tub with a little sling that attaches, but can be removed when she can sit up. The sling is nice because newborns are so small and they can lay on the sling while you give them a sponge bath at the sink. Mosiah used a baby bath tub until he was probably almost a year. I didn't want to have to fill a big bath tub up, which would have too much water for me to feel comfortable with him being in.
Hey don't diss on the diaper genie. I have gone through two different diaper pails and it is the only one that really keeps your house from smelling like a dirty diaper. It may cost a little more but you get what you pay for. Also I wouldn't worry about a matching carseat and stroller if your budget is tight, cause you can pretty much find a cart every where you go and put the carseat in that and for places with out carts you can probably find a second hand stroller that the carrier will fit on just fine. I never used my match set. if someone is getting it for you or you aren't on a budget then get one that is made for jogging cause even if you just walk they are way easier to push. Definitely need lots of blankets onsies and burp clothes. I wouldn't worry too much about boppie covers though cause they are pretty easy to just wipe off until they get really dirty, but you know me I am not a germ freak and maybe I'm even a little too lax. Have fun though and don't worry too much cause people will give gift cards and then when the baby gets here you'll see what you need on your own and then go out and get it. That way you don't end up with a lot of stuff you never use. In the beginning you just need a bed diapers and blankets, then you go from there. Hey you could even use a dresser drawer instead of a bed:0) Oh by the way I have this really cute Moses basket and Joshua doesn't even sleep in it. he sleeps better in his bouncer seat so....you know...
Remember the days b4 boppy's (what is that?), body suits, strollers, diaper genies, baby baths, play gyms?
I think u'll do just fine. Go Chelsea!
My opinion is to add more stuff, but the fact is that no one really bought from my registry anyway. You'll need a stroller. It's a cheap way to get out of the house a little each day. I agree that the baby bathtubs with the slings are good. My friends say their babies don't like baths, but Callum loves his b/c the sling just barely dips him in the water and he is really secure in there. He goes through about 100 diapers a week currently, FYI, so you will need more than 2 diaper genie refills! Stock up on cases of baby diapers at Costco. The pampers swaddlers newborns are really good. They didn't leak and they have a handy yellow line that turns green when the diaper is wet. You have a pacifier clip, but no pacifiers on the list. I agree that you'll want a few bottles and at least a hand pump. Also, not sure if this is something you'd put on your registry, but you'll need lanolin cream and breast pads to deal with sore nipples and leaking. Lansinoh brand of both are very good, but I'm sure others work as well. Love ya lots!
